(April, 1983) The first tobacco from the New World came from North Carolina and was sent by Sir Walter Raleigh to Queen Elizabeth I. Smoky is thinking about that ancient history. Meanwhile, he is relieved that this pipe was not smoking when it fell from someone’s pocket into the leaves. This Woodspirit is to the little people in the forest what Smoky the Bear is to the big people in national parks. On top of ole Smoky is an acorn hard hat, and to his side is a coin depicting Queen Elizabeth II.
